adminA “DEMON BARBER” who slashed the neck of a man with his cut-throat razor today walked free from court.
Hungarian-born Lloyd Dobrodumow violently attacked passing lout Robert Smith after he dropped a beer can on the ground outside his city centre salon.
The 45-year-old, who was carrying a razor, raced outside but was met by a volley of abuse when he demanded the yob put his litter in a nearby bin. Witnesses claim Smith swung his carrier bag towards the barber who reacted by punching him while the blade was still in his hand. The incident outside Jack’s Barber’s Shop in Newcastle left the victim with a 10cm wound to his neck and damage to his muscle, gland and artery. Smith was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary with blood oozing from his neck wound and underwent surgery to repair the wound.
The barber pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding on the basis he struck out forgetting he had the cut throat razor in his hand.
Appearing before Newcastle Crown Court today Dobrodumow, of Gateshead, was given a 12-month suspended prison sentence with 200 hours unpaid work, £5,000 compensation and £700 costs.
Neil Pallister, prosecuting, said: “At about 5pm on Tuesday June 10, the defendant was at work in his barber shop with his wife and a female employee.
“The victim was walking up towards the station, passed the barber shop with a carrier bag containing one can and he was drinking from another can. He finished drinking from the can and tossed the can away. He recalls hearing a male’s voice saying the bin is only f***ing there.
“Hearing this Smith walks towards the defendant who was standing in the door way of his shop. Smith accepts saying, ‘if that f***ing bothers you put it in the bin yourself’.
“An argument was taking place between the defendant and Smith. The defendant went back inside to his shop and attempted to shut the door but Smith wedged his foot in the door preventing it from shutting. He punched towards Smith and Smith put his hands on his face.” – AP
