GWANDA based Afro dancehall musician Msaigwa Jnr (born Leonard Mutero) has went out of his genre’s comfort zone and roped in the services of Bulawayo based music maestro Mzoe7 for his latest studio offering, titled Melo.
The Amapiano Afro tunes track, was released last week.
In an interview, the 21-year-old artist said that the song was part of a long term plan, as he was trying to make a statement in the industry by releasing singles as he worked his way towards his debut album.
“I am on a mission of making my name known in the music corridors and l will be doing that through the release of singles and collaborations with well established artistes across genres.
“Starting off with Melo which features Mzoe7, l tried my hand in the Amapiano field with the track serving as an apology from a man to a woman after there were involved in a fight,” said Msaigwa Jnr.
Msaigwa Jnr said although he had faced obstacles in the early stages of his career, he was determined to attain his goals.
“I started doing music in 2023 after being inspired by the works of the likes of Killer t, Tocky vibes, Bazooker and Jah Prayzah. I have managed to share the stage with big artistes such as Killer t, Hulengende, Tocky Vibes and Freeman.
“The challenges where l come from is that people don’t fully support art but l vow to keep on pushing until I make it,” said Msaigwa Jnr.
Mzoe7 said it was an honour to work with a promising talent eager to raise the bar for his home area.
“I have been for the growth of the arts and l promised since the year started that l will be featuring on most projects this year. It was good to work with Msaigwa Jnr as he is determined to make a change.
“Also it was pleasing to share the stage with him at Izipho festival and hear him say that he is very excited to be featuring one of the country’s best musicians who is also a good role model to most creatives. This gives me the oomph to work hard,” said Mzoe7.
