Barman jailed 5 years for attempted rape

Plumtree Correspondent
A 21-YEAR-OLD Plumtree barman will spend the next five years in prison for failing to contain his sexual appetite and attempting to force himself on his 13-year-old neighbour. Jonathan Ncube was caught stark naked trying to rape his neighbour’s 13-year-old daughter (name withheld), who was sharing a bed with her six-year-old sister.
The court heard that Ncube, who is employed at Dumms Night Club, broke into his neighbour’s house in the middle of the night.

He proceeded to the juvenile’s bedroom and found her sleeping with her young sister.
While there he stripped naked and tried to undress the juvenile as well. He ordered the six-year-old girl to hide under a blanket and remain quiet while he tried to rape her sister.

The complainant resisted and with the help of her young sister called out for their mother who upon entering found Ncube naked lying on top of her daughter still trying to force himself on her.

Plumtree magistrate Gideon Ruvetsa lashed out on Ncube for being disrespectful.
“You have to be ashamed of yourself. People like you do not deserve to live among human beings. How could you make a move on your daughter’s neighbour during her mother’s presence?

“This is a sign that you have no respect at all. It also shows that you cannot contain your sexual appetite. The sentence that is suitable for you is one that will teach you to be respectful and to control your sexual desires,” he said.

Ruvetsa slapped Ncube with an effective five-year jail sentence.
Prosecuting, Medica Tshuma said: “On 3 February around 10PM Ncube broke into his neighbour’s house and tried to rape her daughter. The juvenile’s mother was alerted by her daughter’s screams.

“She alerted other neighbours who apprehended Ncube and escorted him to Plumtree Police Station.”
