A DRINKING spree turned tragic in Kwekwe, Midlands Province, when a bartender allegedly tracked down and stabbed a patron to death following a heated dispute over change.

The shocking incident happened on Monday at around 6pm at AM Trading Tuck-shops in Mbizo, Kwekwe.
The suspect, Simbarashe Sithole (27), has since been arrested by the police.

According to a source close to the case, the now-deceased, Marshal Muyuni, was having a good time drinking beer at the tuck-shops when a misunderstanding arose between him and Sithole, who was serving behind the counter.
The argument, which was over cash change, quickly escalated.

“Muyuni got angry and slapped Sithole hard on the face before storming out of the bar,” said a source.
However, Sithole reportedly could not let the matter rest. In a fit of rage, he allegedly armed himself with a knife and followed Muyuni out of the premises.

“He caught up with him a short distance away and stabbed him. He fell to the ground and bled profusely. Well-wishers rushed Muyuni to Kwekwe General Hospital for medical attention, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival,” said the source.

The matter was reported to the police, who acted swiftly to arrest Sithole.
Midlands Police Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the arrest.
“We urge members of the public to seek peaceful ways of resolving conflict to avoid the unnecessary loss of life,” he said.
