Alrick McKenzie and Marvin Simmonds, founders of BaMa Productions Limited, have produced a new television show on the platform of a reality television show that began airing on Television Jamaica on Saturday. The half-hour show, “Mix It: Bartenders Challenge”, shows every Saturday at 9 pm and showcases the best bartenders on the island.
The bartenders compete against each other over four weeks to win the top cash prize and earn the title, MIX IT Top Bartender.
The judges, master mixologist Patrice Wilson-McHugh, entertainment promoter Ron Burke, and celebrity chef Gariel Ferguson will be looking for personality and skills to select the ultimate bartender.
The bartenders will be tested for accuracy, speed, exhibition, creative mixology, knowledge and showmanship.
Each week, the bartenders will demonstrate their creative talent in mixing up ingredients to create the perfect drink against the clock but, during each episode, two bartenders will be kicked out of the bar until the final two find themselves in the final.
Each episode is different as there will be anonymous baskets and surprise ingredients that must be used to create a perfect drink.
“We believe we have a winning format for the reality series. We partnered with Nestlé Supligen as they found this venture to be synonymous with the brand position.
“The show will offer good entertainment but will also reveal the relevance and sophistication of the business of bartending and how persons can explore it as a career.
“Our creative team is focused on reaching and engaging a broader audience through a more concentrated outreach effort that includes both traditional resources and contemporary social-media networks such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter,” said producer and host of the reality series, Alrick McKenzie.
The sentiment is shared by business partner and producer Marvin Simmonds, who views the show as a major break into the hospitality industry.
“We are thrilled to now bring viewers this innovative.
“We are taking television to another level, allowing viewers for four weeks to experience the competition in their living rooms for the first time.
“The show will deliver great music, fast camera movement, creative graphics, and other elements to grab the attention of our viewers,” he said.
The producers are also responsible for other known television shows, “Gillette and Duracell Freestyle Football Reality Show”, “Love Zone TV Talk Show”, and most recently, a
scholarship competition reality show, “Gillette Honour Roll”. – Jamaica Gleaner.
