Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation chief correspondent Reuben Barwe yesterday celebrated 40 years of broadcasting in style after being presented with a brand new 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser VXR LX 300 Series, a generous gift from businessman Wicknell Chivayo.
Accompanied by his two sons, Denzel (18) and Ashley (13), Barwe received the vehicle at Faramatsi Motors headquarters in Harare.
He was welcomed by public relations expert and former ZBC colleague Innocent Tshuma.
Barwe, visibly elated, expressed his gratitude to his benefactor, stating, “I feel honoured to be receiving this gift with open hands.
“I feel honoured to be holding the keys to this present. As a proud Zimbabwean, I am grateful to receive these keys today.”
He acknowledged Chivayo for his thoughtful gesture as he passed the keys to his son Denzel.
Faramatsi group chief executive Officer Mr Farai Matsika, who oversaw the handover ceremony, shared his pride in being part of the event.
“I am proudly honoured to represent a Zimbabwean company that has benefited from policies allowing us to participate in this industry,” he said.
“You have done much to raise awareness that our country can be run by its own citizens,” said Mr Matsika. Tshuma echoed similar sentiments, saying Barwe deserved the gift.
“To say you deserve this gift is an understatement. Boys, your father’s shoes are difficult to fill, and he has safeguarded the nation through his work over the years.”
Musician Darling “Mambo Dhutere” Museta and his wife Dorcas Vhambe are set to receive their cars today at Faramatsi Motors headquarters around mid-morning.
Businessman Tazvi Mhaka, known as Chief J, will also be among the recipients of cars gifted by Chivayo.
