FOUR unidentified men allegedly bashed a 35-year-old Nketa 6 man with an iron bar before getting away with just US$10 and his cellphone in a late-night mugging.

The victim was walking home from work when he was attacked on September 28 at around 10pm along Ndaba Road near Brethren Church in Nketa.

Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Thandekile Ndlovu said the man was walking alone when the four suspects approached him from behind, with one of them armed with an iron bar.

One of the suspects allegedly struck him once on the forehead with the weapon, causing bruises.

The gang then grabbed and searched him before stealing his Nokia cellphone and US$10 cash.

They fled from the scene, leaving the man injured.

The complainant went home and nursed his injuries before reporting the matter to police on October 2.

The total value of the stolen property was US$30 and nothing had been recovered by the time of reporting.

Asst Insp Ndlovu appealed to anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to report at their nearest police station.
