RENOWNED rhumba musician SaMaNgwe is set to bring Bambadzi Business Centre to life when he and his Mlambos Express Band headline the 2026 World Post Day commemorations in Bulilima District, Matabeleland South province.
The celebrations, organised by the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (Potraz) in partnership with the Ministry of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services and other stakeholders, will be held on October 10 under the theme, “One postal network, infinite possibilities.”
ICT Minister Tatenda Mavetera is expected to officiate at the event, with her deputy, Dingumuzi Phuti, who is also the Bulilima Constituency legislator, Potraz director-general Dr Gift Machengete and Zimpost Postmaster-General Maxwell Chitendeni among the key speakers.
The event seeks to celebrate the vital role played by postal and courier services in connecting Zimbabwe and the rest of the world.
The entertainment programme comes as Potraz continues its drive to take its services and digital inclusion programmes to underserved communities across the country.
World Post Day is celebrated annually on October 9 to mark the anniversary of the Universal Postal Union (UPU). However, Zimbabwe will commemorate the day on October 10 with the main celebrations taking place in Bulilima.
The Bambadzi event is expected to draw hundreds of villagers, schoolchildren, local leaders and postal sector stakeholders, with the performances by SaMaNgwe and Mlambos Express Band expected to be one of the major crowd-pullers.
Organisers say the commemorations will also provide an opportunity to educate communities on how postal services have evolved beyond traditional letter delivery to encompass digital commerce, courier services and financial services.
