‘Batai Munhu’ @ Pamuzinda

Sulu will be closer home this Friday and he is  expected to serenade his fans until the early hours of Saturday.
Ironically, Tryson his cousin, will be holding a gig dubbed “Dr Nero Commemoration” at the Andy Millar Hall in honour of his father, just a few kilometres away from the joint, where Sulu will be rocking the crowd.

However, Sulu is going to make an appearance at Dr Nero commemorations together with his cousins before he proceeds to Pamuzinda for his main show.
Armed with his own discography and that of his late father, Simon, Sulu is expected to serenade the crowd with a lot of hit tracks that have endeared him with his fans, from the time he started his musical career in 2005.

His fans should look forward to dance along to “One Way”, “Pakaoma”, “Chauta”, “Nhambarakishoni”, “Njiva” and “Sean Timba” that is currently receiving heavy rotation on radio stations, parties and nightclubs.

Ever since he started his musical career, the young crooner has been largely relying on his late father’s discography.
Although he had released three other albums, “Ndomusiya Nani” (2007), “Reverse Deal” (2009) and “Non-Stop” (2010), which featured Oliver Mtukudzi, his uncle Allan Chimbetu and saxophonist Philip Svosve, it was his latest offering “Syllabus”, that has really put him on the national map.

Sulu’s earlier albums did not excite the fans that much, but his fortunes seemed to have changed for the better when “Reverse Deal” won the National Arts Merit Awards Outstanding Album of the Year in 2009. Only this year, he went a grade higher and bagged in three Nama awards, at the annual event held in Bulawayo in February.

He took home the Outstanding Male Musician award while his all-conquering “Syllabus” grabbed the Outstanding Album gong.
The dendera musician’s dominance also earned him The People’s Choice Award.

And since then, Sulu has been holding shows in and around Zimbabwe, as his popularity continues to grow.
