Two of the lucky winners, Zanelle Phiri (24) and Thumelo Malinga (30), received their prizes which include return air tickets yesterday courtesy of Star FM’s partners Tech Tools and FBC Bank through their MasterCard who splashed US$3 000 spending money for the trip.
“Although the show has been cancelled, the winners will get all the promised expenses paid trip to South Africa and the rest of their prizes that include US$3 000 spending money courtesy of FBC MasterCard, IPods and other treats sponsored by Tech Tools,” Star FM general manager Admire Taderera said.
He said they saw it fit to come up with a plan B for the winners since waiting for five months for the show was probably going to dampen their spirits.
“We have not yet established the reason for the show’s postponement, but since we had created hype about the trip, we saw it fit to fly the winners to Johannesburg for a motor show, an air show and a fashion show that will take place this coming Thursday,” he said.
Phiri and Malinga expressed excitement over the trip, stressing they have no hard feelings over missing the cancelled show. “We are obviously a little disappointed, but extremely excited about the shows and the shopping. This is a great opportunity for us and we are excited about it,” they said.
TechTools representative Walter Wanyanya promised that more was to come out of their partnership with Star FM.
