AFTER being eluded by victory in their last four games, crestfallen Highlanders will this afternoon do duty against unpredictable newboys Greenfuel in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Week 28 fixture that will be played in Chisumbanje in Manicaland province.
All has not been well in the Bosso camp and they certainly made the trip to Chisumbanje with tails between their legs after they have managed to collect a paltry two points from a possible 12 in their last four outings.
Bosso’s latest poor show was last Sunday when they were held to a goalless by bottom-placed Cranborne Bullets.
It was a match in which Bosso’s dependable goalkeeper and captain Ariel Sibanda missed a penalty much to the disappointment of the success- starved Highlanders family.
However, the club’s assistant coach Joel Luphahla put up a brave face saying they should remain focused and keep on believing in themselves.
“We are going to give our best. We are going to give our all. Maybe with a little bit of luck, we can collect 21 points from the seven games that are left. We are playing Green Fuel and we are eight points behind Ngezi Platinum Stars. They can drop points and we will be back to trail them by five points.
At the end of the day, we just have to believe. I am still confident that Ngezi can drop two games and we win two, then we are back in contention,” said the former Bosso and Warriors speedy forward.
The Bulawayo football giants will welcome their head coach Baltemar Brito and his assistant Antonio Torres who were both absent when they did duty against Cranborne Bullets due to national team commitment.
In their absence, Bosso legend Madinda Ndlovu was left in charge.
Today, the former champions, who have been starved of the league title glory for 17 years, meet a Greenfuel side that has the services of ex-Bosso players who include Honest Moyo, Bukhosi “Zakhu” Sibanda and MacClive Phiri.
Greenfuel are number eleven on the log table with 33 points and in their previous encounter, they drew nil all against army side Black Rhinos.
Meanwhile, in other midweek fixtures set for this afternoon, second placed FC Platinum will seek to utilise home advantage when they face Black Rhinos.
Inconsistent Chicken Inn will welcome Luke Masomere’s ZPC Kariba at Luveve Stadium.
Sheasham will square off against Triangle at Gweru’s Bata Stadium.
Simba Bhora will fight out against equally buoyant CAPS United at Baobab Stadium. Hwange meet high riding Herentals at Colliery Stadium.
Tomorrow, Cranborne Bullets will entertain Bulawayo Chiefs at the National Sports Stadium. Yadah Stars will fight it out against Manica Diamonds at Baobab Stadium.
