Battered, bruised Bosso aim at sinking Hwange as Gamecocks welcome tricky Bikita

BRUISED Highlanders are on Sunday set to take on Hwange deep in the bowels of Colliery Stadium. Bosso are smarting from a shock 2-0 away defeat they suffered at the hands of relegation threatened Bikita Minerals, in a mid-week encounter that was played at Mutare’s Sakubva Stadium on Wednesday.

Despite an impressive home performance, with a 4-0 win against Green Fuel, Bosso found themselves in a face-off with a team that had just drawn 1-1 against the 2023 champions, Ngezi Platinum Stars.

Unfortunately, the team could not capitalise on its recent win as Bikita Minerals proved to be a challenging opponent. It was Bosso’s ninth defeat of the season that saw them remain in fifth place on the league table with 47 points, while Bikita Minerals, currently in 15th position, increased their overall tally to 35 points.

In their next assignment, Bikita Minerals will fight it out against Chicken Inn at Luveve Stadium.

“It will be a tricky game on Saturday against Bikita Minerals. Beating Highlanders is not an easy thing. We are happy that we played well against Ngezi Platinum Stars. We were well structured and we will have to continue doing that,” said Chicken Inn head coach, Joey Antipas.

Simba Bhora wrapped up the season with two games left as they reached an unassailable 66 points with the 1-0 victory over Arenel Movers, on Wednesday.

Second-placed,FC Platinum, are on 57 points after beating Bulawayo Chiefs at Mandava Stadium yesterday. Effectively, the Platinum Miners cannot reach the 66 point margin.

On Sunday, Chegutu Pirates will entertain CAPS United at Baobab Stadium. TelOne will play-host to Arenel Movers at Ascot Stadium.

In their bid to avoid the dreaded relegation chop, Bulawayo Chiefs will seek to utilise home advantage and switch off ZPC Kariba in a match that will be played at Luveve Stadium.

Dynamos have a home tie against Manica Diamonds. Yadah Stars will fight it out against Green Fuel at the Heart Stadium.
