Battle of the 7 Arts looms

Entertainment Reporter
There will be a battle for fans at the 7 Arts Theatre tomorrow and Friday when two shows are held in the venue. The first show will feature Mokoomba and Selmor Mtukudzi while on Friday South African musician Zahara performs with Oliver Mtukudzi and Tariro neGitare. Although organisers of the shows said they have different strategies, differentiating the concepts is likely to be difficult since the musicians have a common fan appeal.

Chris Musabayane, who is organising the Zahara show, said he was not worried about the clash because he believes in his performance line-up.

“We feel we have big artistes and we have done all the groundwork. Of course, people will be spoilt for choice but we believe the biggest artistes of the two shows will win the battle,” he said.

“Judging from the response we had at our March show that also had Zahara and Mtukudzi at HICC, we are confident it will be a good outing.”

On the other hand, Mokoomba manager Marcus Gora said they had planned their show differently.

“We have our traditional fans that always come for our shows and we have done a unique marketing strategy to lure new fans,” said Gora.

“This will be our first big show but we will not be intimidated by big names. In fact, challenging the big names will make us stronger. It is all about strategy. We have let our market know about what we will offer on the day and they will come for it.”
