HOME turned into a battlefield?

A couple from Bulawayo’s Nkulumane suburb seems to have turned their home into a battlefield as they always go out of their way to fix each other.

If it is not the wife complaining of this and that, it will be the husband crying over something.

Faith Mpofu claims that her husband Noah Mpofu assaults her for no apparent reason and wakes up in the middle of the night just to “shower” her with insults.

On the other hand, the man also complains of being assaulted and the woman burning his documents and flushing some in the toilet.

The couple which has been together for the past 17 years narrated their ordeal before magistrate Stephen Ndlovu.

The woman said: “My husband assaults me for no apparent reason and insults me in the middle of the night.

“He does not sleep with me saying he has found a better woman to share his bed. At times he just comes to my workplace to humiliate me.”

Faith also mentioned that her husband did not pay rent, school fees or buy food for children. She begged for protection against the abusive husband.

It became an issue of one’s word against another’s word as Noah dismissed his wife’s report.

“I dispute all that she has said, it’s exactly the opposite. She once struck me with a bottle on the back of the head.

After realising that she had injured me, she ran to make a police report. When police got to our home they realised I was badly injured and I was referred to hospital.

“In 2017, she smashed my car windows and I spent $706 repairing it. Early this month, she attacked me while I was still in bed, she tore my vehicle registration books and flushed other papers in the toilet and damaged my cellphone.”

The couple was referred for counselling where it came out that both of them at some point had been unfaithful and therefore would continue with counselling sessions.
