Have a gun in a knife fight
This is the most ideal way to approach the future. Prospective employers are working smart to see the forest among trees and vice versa!
“Educating all of our children must be one of our most urgent priorities. We all know that education, more than anything else, improves your chances of building better lives.” — Nelson Mandela
The jacarandas are beginning to bloom. Grade 7 results were released. Other public examinations are almost through. The school year is almost over. This is the right time for all of us to start implementing our schooling plans for 2024.
History of Trust Academy
We trace our earliest to 1994 when the college was established as an investment arm of Zimbabwe Project Trust, a local Non-Governmental Organisation established in London in 1978 by some exiled Zimbabweans (then Rhodesians) to act as an information centre for the liberation war and after independence in 1980; to facilitate access to skills and resources to the poor, disadvantaged and marginalised women, men, girls and boys of Zimbabwe for enhanced sustainable management of livelihood activities that promote fairness, equity and justice. Trust Academy is registered in terms of the Manpower Development Act 1986 with the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education and the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture.
We run small classes for good reasons
Our teacher-learner ratio is 1:10. This allows our teachers to understand every learner in terms of background, strengths, weaknesses and emotional challenges. Ultimately it becomes easier for the teacher to engage the parents in order to establish collaborative ways of helping the learner. Furthermore, the school can fairly provide counselling services to identify the learner’s interest as well as modify the learner’s behaviour. Such small class numbers allow the school to involve all learners in academic and recreational activities. Above all it allows the learner to realise that the school and teachers really care for him/her.
Lab and Lib
Learners at Trust Academy High School will also be able to enjoy, among other things; a new Science Lab and a new and well-resourced library, which is complemented by free WiFi. The school has also established a wide range of co-curricular activities. Standing out among these are life-skills such as Guidance and Counselling, First Aid, Career Guidance, Scripture Union, Business and Entrepreneurship and Sports.
Tests and Report Cards
Trust Academy non-formal high school is not one of those lackadaisical centres where students and teachers adopt a laissez-faire approach; where students may or may not attend classes and it is “business as usual”, as long as fees have been paid. NO!! We are results-oriented. The non-formal students must work hard, sit for exams and leave. That is what we mean by acceleration. Students must feel and see that they are making progress through regular exercises, tests and report cards. Stakeholders should also be able to assess the progress of their wards and spouses. We do not want to keep students here forever and milk them of their hard-earned cash. We want to deal with the non-formal students in a professional, honest and mutually beneficial way.
Non-Formal Parallel Programme
Trust Academy High School also has the non-formal high school. This caters for varied demographics of students; from O-level to A-level. Our students’ body is made up of people who are re-sitting their exams and those who are sitting exams for the first time. Students can choose to study from one to eight subjects for O-level and one to three or four subjects at A-level.
The ages of these students differ too. We cater for straight-from-school students, those who have been out of the formal system for a while and those who are employed or raising families and would want to continue with their education.
Flexi-time
Trust Academy High School’s unique product for the non-formal school is the flexible timetable. Our flexible timetable is a facility that is meant to appeal to people in different circumstances. That is why we are saying one-size-does-not-fit-all. We offer day, evening and weekend classes.
One-On-One Tutorials
Another unique product that we deliver is the one-on-one tutorial. Where learners have special needs, we are prepared to offer specialised tutorials. Learners make special arrangements with their tutors and they are offered one-on-one tutorials. Students at Trust Academy can also benefit from the ICT and Business and Secretarial Schools that are part of the Trust Academy family.
