COMEDIENNE Beatrice “Bee Wezhira” Mudzingwa says she is now using the digital media to earn a decent living.
After training as a school teacher, she said she was not shattered after failing to be employed, which prompted her to venture into comedy.
Bee Wezhira, who has over 50 000 followers on all her platforms, believes women can also earn a decent living, through content creation.
She has been collaborating with different local celebrities.
“Most of my skits are based on Senzeni’s character, admitting that you are wrong and apologising like she always does.
“Family and friends support me and they like the fact that I am not a drama queen.
“Since there are no jobs, I have scaled the ladder because of the digital world, at least, now I can get something to get basic commodities, through endorsements.
“Some of us are trying to earn a living, it’s not even about becoming a celebrity, like what others say, it’s about getting money for family and yourself.
“I don’t mind what people say, as long as I know it’s not true.
“When I started comedy, my family and relatives didn’t want me to do it.
“They were saying it’s not professional but I had to because I knew I had a talent that could change my life.
“But now, they support me after they realised that I am doing well in the industry, collaborating with other big celebrities and getting endorsements from different companies,” she said.
Despite training as a school teacher, she conceded it was never her true love.
“I went to Gokwe for temporary teaching in 2014 before starting a Bachelor in Education at Great Zimbabwe from 2015 up to 2019 June.
“I then graduated in November 2019 as a high school teacher.
“I worked at Manna Resorts in Glen Lorne as a receptionist and reservationist, up to 2020 July, basa rakangopera since, after lockdown, they decided to remove other staff, that’s when I thought of trying comedy.
“I started with Tiktok before later creating a page which I started using in November 2020, now I have over 50k plus on both platforms,” she added.
Her manager, Dr TM, also commended her for making a good name for herself.
“I see a lot of potential in her and she is not a drama queen.
“I am impressed with the way Zimbabweans are responding to her skits.
“It’s my prayer every day that she goes international.”
