HARARE – Cornelder Mozambique, a concessionaire company in the port of Beira, has said it plans to expand its customer base in Southern Africa, focusing on improving the services that it provides.
A concessionaire is a person or company that has the right to sell a product or to run a business, especially in a building belonging to another business.
In Mozambique, Cornelder operates containers and general cargo terminals at the Beira port, one of the country’s most active ports.
In a statement, the company said in order to mobilise more users to the port of Beira, it held a meeting in Harare recently, which brought together more than 200 companies.
“It was a very productive meeting, as many of the concerns that were raised were immediately answered,” the statement quoted company managing director, Jan de Vries, as having said at the meeting.
De Vries said Zambia and Malawi were also priorities in the company’s business expansion plan.
“We hope to hold more meetings of this nature in the future in other neighbouring countries such as Zambia and Malawi,” he said.
Cornelder Moçambique is a company comprised of a Dutch firm Cornelder BV, the public company Caminhos de Ferro de Moçambique (CFM) and private Mozambican investors. – New Ziana
