BEITBRIDGE-based musician Bhadilah will shoulder the responsibility of showcasing the artistic talent of the border town after being selected as the only artiste from the area to perform at this year’s Independence Gala, scheduled for April 18.
A total of 29 artistes drawn from Zimbabwe’s 10 provinces have been unveiled as part of the national line-up for the much-anticipated celebrations.
The official list of performers features an array of established and diverse acts, including Sandra Ndebele, Jeys Marabini, Clement Magwaza, Mavusani and The Chimurenga vocalists, Dereck Mpofu, Andy Muridzo, LMG Choir, Mbare Chimurenga Choir, Zinjaziyamluma, as well as Black Umfolosi.
Also set to perform are Ndolwane Super Sounds, Chief Hwenje, Khonangale, Indosakusa The Morning Star, Iyasa, Ma9Nine, Godolude, Chase Skuza, Jah Master, Sasha, Bolamba Culture Birds, Ndux Malax, Sulumani Chimbetu, Ufasimba Home of Arts, DT Bio Mudimba and Dubai Masters, underlining the national character of the showcase.
The main stage will be hosted by Thulani Munyadi, Leonard Ncube, Nqobile Malinga and Cde Phil Moyo, who will guide proceedings throughout the night.
This year’s main Independence celebrations will be held at Maphisa Growth Point, while the Independence Gala itself will take place at the Minda High School grounds, running from 6PM through to the early hours of the following morning.
Reacting to his inclusion, Bhadilah said it was an honour to be part of such a star-studded line-up on a national stage.
“Being selected to perform at a national event is both an honour and a powerful validation of the hard work we are putting in. This speaks to consistency and we are grateful to the organisers for going down south and recognising Bhadilah Music.
“This also represents growth, from humble beginnings to a national platform and shows that the message and sound we carry are resonating beyond provinces. It is also a sign of trust from the organisers and stakeholders that I can represent not just myself, but a wider community and culture,” said Bhadilah.
He added that 2026 marks a significant year of growth for his brand and urged his supporters to brace themselves for an elevated musical offering.
“This year my fans can expect nothing but growth, energy and elevation from Bhadilah Music. Being given the honour to perform at the National Independence Gala 2026 in Maphisa is a huge milestone and it sets the tone for everything that’s coming. I am working on projects that will not only entertain but also connect deeply with the people.
“Performance-wise, I am raising the bar. More live band experiences, more stage presence and unforgettable moments. If you have seen me before, just know this year is on another level,” said Bhadilah.
