Bekker wins Division Trophy

DANIELLE Bekker won the B Division Trophy in the Western Province Ladies Amateur Open Strokeplay Championship at Belville Golf Club in Cape Town, South Africa, last weekend.

The Chapman golfer won the event by two strokes after carding 81 and 85 in the two rounds.

The 12-year-old is currently playing off 10 handicap making her eligible for the 10-18 handicap B-Division. On her way to victory Bekker sank a six-metre putt on the last of the 36 holes for a birdie.

For her efforts, the young player brought a glass trophy home to represent her win.

Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Golf Association have named amateur players who will take part in this year’s Golden Pilsener Zimbabwe Open.

The event is set for Royal Harare from April 7 to 13 with a lot of international players expected to take part.

The five players are Tonderai Masunga, Stuart Krog, Visitor Mapwanya, Docter Maphosa and Thembelani Vundla.
