Ben Curran Called Up to Chevrons Squad

FOLLOWING his scintillating form in domestic cricket, England-born top order batter Ben Curran has been called up to the Chevrons squad for their three-match One Day International (ODI) series against Afghanistan, starting on December 17 at Harare Sports Club.

The 28-year-old son of the late former Zimbabwe international and coach, Kevin Curran, is the leading run scorer in the ongoing 2024/25 Pro50 Championship with 258 runs in four matches.

His two brothers, Sam and Tom, are World Cup winners with England.

In his four List A innings this season, Curran has scored a century and two half-centuries.

His latest half-century came against Southern Rocks last Thursday, where he made 53 runs off 72 balls. He boasts an impressive average of 64.50.

Curran is one of three changes made to the team that played against Pakistan in Bulawayo last week.

Eighteen-year-old fast bowler Newman Nyamhuri – who grabbed the limelight at the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup in South Africa earlier this year – has received a call-up to the senior squad, alongside seasoned campaigner Victor Nyauchi.

They replace Faraz Akram, Brandon Mavuta, and Clive Madande, who is recovering from a dislocated shoulder.

The rest of the squad from Zimbabwe’s recent ODI series against Pakistan remains unchanged.

In the only changes to the T20I squad, Nyamhuri is joined by opening batter Takudzwanashe Kaitano, who is in line to make his debut in the shortest format.

Madande and Mavuta miss out due to injury and selection adjustments.

Zimbabwe T20I Squad:
