Man (24) sentenced to 6 months in prison for assaulting mother (60)

A 24-YEAR-OLD man from the Chief Musikavanhu area in Chipinge was sentenced to six months in prison for physically assaulting his 60-year-old mother.

The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) stated in a post on X that the incident occurred on 19 November 2024, when the accused confronted his mother on her way home, accusing her of witchcraft and blaming her for his misfortunes. In a fit of rage, he struck her on the head with a wooden log and twisted her right arm.

After pleading guilty to the charge, the court sentenced him to six months’ imprisonment for his actions.
