Lawrence Haisa, Pastor G and ZimPraise are expected to illuminate the stage for a worthy cause. Proceeds from the concert will go to an orphanage called Mai Banda Outreach Ministries.
While local musicians such as Mhere, Pastor Haisa, Nyakudya and Simeti arenow household names on the local scene, little is known about Banda.
Banda, known as Mai Banda, was born on December 12, 1976 in Waterfalls, Harare.
After high school in 1996, she moved to the USA to pursue her education and acquired an MBA degree at Texas Women’s University which landed her a career in the finance industry.
In 2002 while in the US, Mai Banda became a member of Voice of Africa, a prominent praise group based in Dallas, Texas.
Together with the group, she shared the stage with prominent singers and preachers like Ron Connolly, Keri Jobe, Reinhardt Bonke and Bishop TD Jakes.
The group also ministered at big conferences like Azusa (The largest commemoration of the start of the Pentecostal movement held yearly in California).Through her vast experience in praise and worship leadership she has mentored several young gifted singers.
In 2009, Mai Banda recorded her first album titled “Haungavanziri Mwari”.
The album has sold thousands of copies in the USA to people from different nationalities, Nigerians and Zimbabweans being her biggest fans.
Together with her husband Douglas, Mai Banda founded Mai Banda Outreach Ministries.
“The purpose of this ministry is to bring awareness to the Western world of the devastating situation in the African environment which includes hunger, Aids and the high orphaned population within this region. This ministry uses the musical talent of the members as an instrument to reach out and bring people from all over the world to attend benefit concerts and in so doing extend help and assistance to this cause,” she said.
