of the Czech Republic. The gig coincides with his 33rd birthday.
The celebrated reggae crooner, who made his name during his days as the lead sing singer for the now defunct Bootkin Clan and then the Transit Crew, has managed to draw a large following locally and in the Eastern European country.
“This will be one of my biggest performances this year because it is coinciding with my birthday and so naturally I will be over the moon.
“I will also be launching my ‘Cry for the Poor’ video which was shot in Czech Republic in February and there will be many surprise artistes performing at the bash,” said Mannex.
The Mo Familee are no strangers to Eastern Europe and by Mannex’s own reckoning they have a large following there because their music is authentic and unique to their Zimbabwean experience.
The band is billed perform at big arenas and nightspots in six cities among big cities like Prague and Brno.
“We will be performing alongside reggae band Dub Artillery from Prague and a top DJ who also featured on ‘Cry for the Poor’, DJ Semtam,” he said.
“We have also dedicated the funds we make in one show for our own Tengenenge sculpture community.”
Mannex added that he will also be launching his “Czech vs Zim” album dubbed “Optimists by Choice” which has nine tracks and a bonus track by a songstress known as C-Lara.
The Basement has successfully hosted several birthday, farewell and welcome back bashes for many artistes in the dancehall and reggae scene like King Shaddy and Regoman.
The bash starts at 6pm and ends late in the evening.
