BRIAN Bennett has left the country for Pakistan to join Peshawar Zalmi ahead of the new PSL T20 league starting on Thursday.

The Chevrons batsman, who had an outstanding ICC T20 World Cup recently, confirmed his departure time after inspiring Mountaineers to a seven-wicket win over the Eagles, reaching the final of the Pro-50 in the process.

He posted a century at Harare Sports Club before waving goodbye

Pakistan Super League champions, Peshawar Zalmi, had already announced the signing of the Zimbabwean batsman just a few days before the PSL T20 franchise tournament started.

“Obviously, it feels nice to be picked…,” Bennett said. “It’s obviously my first league overseas, I’m really excited.”

Zalmi franchise owner, Javed Afridi, had earlier posted: “We welcome Brian Bennett from Zimbabwe to the Zalmi family.”

The Pakistan T20 league will initially be played behind closed doors as a result of the effects of the US-Israel conflict with Iran.

Two venues, Karachi and Lahore, will host the matches.
