REFORMED entertainer Beverly Sibanda has taken a swipe at critics who are questioning her move to quit showbiz after a Harare prophet Walter Magaya offered to open a clothing business for her.Bev’s announcement on Monday that she has hung up her dancing shoes was met with mixed feeling by the fans.
Using her WhatsApp status to taunt her critics who are doubting that she has reformed, Bev said the problem was that people always tried to look for the negative in the good that people do.
Her status read: “Pakaitika chinhu chakashata munoshora . . . Pakaitika chakanaka munotsvaga tsvaga kuti mushore . . . muri vanhu verudzii ko imi hamutye Mwari? ( if bad happens you criticise . . . if a good thing happens you always try to look for the negative so that they can criticise . . . what type of people are you who do not fear God).”
Last year Bev used her status when she dated South Africa-based footballer Khama Billiat to come out in the open about their relationship.
Addressing journalists in Harare on Tuesday, Magaya said he had not only assisted Bev to start her own business, but highlighted that there were 10 commercial sex workers whom he had saved and were willing to repent.
“I saw Beverly in the congregation and I ignored her, I saw her the second time and did the same, I only talked to her on the third encounter after I noted that she was serious and asked her if she wanted to be saved and she willingly said yes,” the pastor was heard saying on StarFM yesterday.
According to reports, Magaya used a Sunday service at the PHD headquarters in Waterfalls, Harare, to tell Beverly to stop dancing in pubs and promised to help her open a clothing shop in the capital.
The famous prophet has reportedly bought a container of clothes for the raunchy dancer to start a business.
