Madzibaba was returning to the sprawling peri-urban area by public demand after having performed there before while Bev was making her maiden appearance and revellers were keen to see her live in action in their backyard for the first time after having heard a lot about the pole dancer.
And what a show it was as they jostled to catch a glimpse of the sizzling dancer as she went through her paces on the dancefloor.
First on stage was Progress, who put up a sterling performance that saw the crowd singing along to his hit songs like “Garwe” and “Vanochema” which denounces rape.
Proggy — as he is fondly called in music circles — also impressed with his afro-rock guitar, which he strummed with verve sending the audience swaying, rocking and jumping.
Then Madzibaba took over as the professional musician that he is, he didn’t waste time in taking his audience into overdrive on the dance floor as he unleashed hit after hit.
Songs like “Ndine Mubvunzo” and “Tsamba” set the venue alight and it was during the latter song that Bev took to the stage and started showcasing the dances that have made her a household name in local showbiz.
Bev literally stole the show as revellers were anxious to witness her in action and they liked every move that sheand her group Sexy Angels made.
People who frequent Zimunhu Bar were normally used to other dance groups but Bev’s act was out of this world and provided a refreshing angle to the entertainment scene in Epworth.
Young Igwe, Peter Moyo, Tryson Chimbetu and dance outfit Girls of Peace are expected to perform at the same joint on July 7.
