Bevy of beauties converge for Miss Grand finals

A bevy of 16 beauties have converged for a boot camp at a secret location in Bulawayo ahead of the finals of the Miss Grand International Zimbabwe set for Saturday. The models drawn from various parts of the country went into camp on Sunday. Licence holder of the pageant, former Miss Tourism Zimbabwe 2010 Samantha Tshuma, said preparations of the inaugural pageant had gathered momentum and 16 models from the initial 30 had met the requirements of the pageant and would battle it out on Saturday evening.

“Preparations of the pageant are going on well, we have 15 girls who are already in boot camp, we had 30 finalists from the country’s 10 provinces, but only 16 made it to the finals as they met the requirements of the pageant,” said Tshuma.

During camp, the contestants will be equipped with etiquette techniques, grooming and deportment lessons.
The finalists who made it to the last round of the pageant are from Mashonaland Central, Hwange, Bulawayo, Harare, Plumtree and Mashonaland West.

The beauties yesterday went for a photo-shoot at Horizon Pub and Restaurant.
Liason officer of the pageant Vukani Mhlanga said they were working with ZBC-TV to have the pageant screened on national television.
“All the preparations are going on smoothly despite that the fact that we organised in a short space of time.

“We are hoping the pageant would be screened on television,” said Mhlanga.
The Miss Grand International Zimbabwe winner will get the ticket to represent the country at the inaugural world pageant to be held in Thailand on 15 November.

The pageant would be held at Garden Restaurant in Suburbs.
The final is strictly by invite and would a black tie event.
Miss Grand International has also embarked on a “Stop the War” campaign, as they aim to deliver a message of freedom, peace and harmony.
