BULAWAYO gospel fanatics will be in for a treat on 20 July when UFI Ministries bring Mahendere Brothers and Gospel Power for a performance at Bulawayo Textile Mills. Pastor Tafadzwa Zuva from UFI, said many groups were set to perform at the extravaganza with the two having confirmed their participation
“At the moment, two groups, Mahendere Brothers and Gospel Power have confirmed their participation and we are still engaging more groups,” said Pastor Zuva.

The gospel extravaganza will start at noon till late.
Mahendere Brothers rose to fame with their dance routines and the famous Mapisarema song. Known for their elegant dressing, Mahendere have been silent in recent years since most of the band members relocated to South Africa.

The group also made headlines with the song Psalms 3:16, which was accompanied by a beautifully made video.
The group has a reputation of staging exquisite shows full of praise and worship songs which are accompanied by polished dance routines.
Songs like Mapisarama and Mumba mababa always bring the best out of Amos Mahendere and leaves fans asking for more.

It remains to be seen if Amos is still as energetic as he used to be, as he has added extra pounds and his brother Michael showed his talent on the drums.

Gospel Power on the other hand was made famous by songs like Kana Zvamubata and Handimiriri, which became an anthem in 2008. The boys from How Mine, like Mahendere, have been off the radar for a while and other musicians have come in during their sabbatical. Artistes like Blessing Shumba and Mathias Mhere are now forces to be reckoned with. Gospel Power is known for its powerful lyrics that had many moved when they pitched on the gospel scene. The song Handimiriri was a hit during its days and many have wondered where the group disappeared to.

Music lovers are already waiting to see what Mahendere will be offering after a lengthy hiatus.
“Fans should expect a great show as we are lining up the best in the industry and fans should come in their numbers to be part of this great extravaganza,” said Pastor Zuva.

The show is expected to bring joy to gospel fans in the city as it comes at a time when fans have been complaining of lack of family gathering events as most shows are done at night.
