Bhundu Boys’ Rise Kagona’s body to arrive on the 25th

The body of the late Bhundu Boys founding member Rise Kagona who died on September 14 in Edinburgh, Scotland, will arrive in Zimbabwe on October 25.

Family spokesperson and son to the late Clever Kagona confirmed the arrangement.

“His body is set to depart England on the 24th and arrive on Friday morning at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport at 11 am.

“His body will lie in state at home in Mufakose before proceeding for burial on Saturday at Warren Hills Legends Section at a time to be advised,” he said.

Kagona, who was 62, had been ill for a long time.

The Bhundu Boys were the first Zimbabwean band to play in Europe, hogging the media limelight in the 1980s.

They are famous for hit songs such as ‘Chekudya chose’, ‘Hupenyu hwangu’ Hatisi tose’ and ‘Simbimbindo’.

The band is recognised as one of Africa’s best bands of all time.
