BICC Bulawayo District Youth Choir is set to host a Hymns 2,0 concert on 23 November at Wealthy Word International in the city centre.

The choir is a joint youth choir of members from various Brethen in Christ Church (BICC) branches across Bulawayo and has been in existence for abiut 20 years. It holds a successful track record with five captivating singles and has a unique blend of traditional and contemporary sounds.

Iphithule Nyoni, the director of the choir said the inspiration for this concert stems from the sense of familiarity and belonging as they grew up listening to hymns.

Nyoni said the concert is targeted at everyone who wants to have an encounter with God, and they have four special guests for the day from different Brethen in Christ Church branches. He said they started preparing for the concert from the beginning of the year.

He said the challenges they faced while preparing for the concert are the funds to cater for the needs of the choir, coordinating logistics, balancing repertoire selection and ensuring vocal cohesion.

“We have a very dynamical musical style shaped mostly by the different members of the choir that have come together from different backgrounds to become one, each individual experience makes the choir what it is, what it seeks to be, and the word of God just shapes us for the better.

“The audience can expect to feel a move like no other because God is in it to change lives. We hope the audiences take away this message from the concert, that God is still a merciful father who is waiting for us to return to him, his arms are always wide open for us.

“Having been born into a church that is rooted in Hymns the choir has been inspired by how the Hymns have kept the older generation in Christ and also have shaped their beliefs, hence we believe that there is immense power in these Hymns that people can tap into, and their lives are changed.

“We plan on going global. Our slogan is BDY choir to the world, the world is yet to see Christ through us and in us, “Nyoni said.
