THE Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises is set to host the inaugural Women’s Empowerment Summit and Expo.

It will deliberate on challenges and opportunities affecting Zimbabwean women.

The summit will be held at the Harare International Conference Centre from tomorrow to Thursday.

It will run under the theme, “Revitalising Economic Growth Through Women Empowerment.”

Addressing the media, Women’s Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Minister, Dr Sithembiso Nyoni, said the summit is a highly participatory and inclusive platform, which brings stakeholders together.

“They will deliberate on policy and technical issues affecting women’s participation in economic activities.

“Women and stakeholders will also take advantage of this platform to network, create partnerships and exhibit their products,” she said.

The Minister said the summit’s objective is to recommend interventions and promote the growth of sustainable female-led  businesses in order to leave no one and no place behind in the process of development.

“To showcase what women are able to produce, there will be exhibitions taking place.

“The two-day summit will have presentations, panel discussions and high-level discussions among critical stakeholders.

“It will promote production and value chain development, financial inclusion and access to capital for production and trade.”

She said the other objective is to align with Vision 2030, which seeks to achieve a prosperous upper-middle income society through inclusive participation and sustainable development.
