IT’s just a matter of hours now before the historic BancABC Sup8r Cup final at Mandava gets underway and there is a lot at stake in this mining town. The derby has divided this town and it’s hard to find a consensus on who will be the winners.
“It’s going to be tough but FC Platinum are going to win because Shabanie is relaxed because they are thinking each game is now a walkover after beating Dynamos in the semi-finals,” said Jacob Moyo, who supports Dynamos.
A Bosso fan, resident in this town, said he expects FC Platinum to conquer.
“It’s going to be 50-50 but FC Platinum have an upper hand because the ground is not neutral. They train there everyday.”
An FC Platinum committee member, Robert Chinhakwe, expects his team to sail through.
“I am happy that the Cup is in Zvishavane. We have football in Zvishavane and I salute BancABC and the PSL for affording us the opportunity to witness the final. My plea is to the fans is for them not to scale the (security) fence when the celebrations begin. We want to maintain the brotherhood spirit whether we lose or win and that is why we joined Shabanie in celebrating their victory when they beat Dynamos.
“I hope both teams will do well in the Mbada Diamonds Cup again.”
A local businesswoman, Plite Nhokwara, said she can’t see Shabanie losing this big match.
“Shabanie are going to win 2-1 or 2-0 as we have the confidence. FC Platinum are afraid of Shabanie and they have a small number of fans here.
“If we cheer our team to the final whistle we will collect the trophy tomorrow and will spend the whole night celebrating.”
A resident DJ in the town, Flex Goronga, popularly known as DJ Flex, is putting his money on Platinum.
“If Tafadzwa (Mombeshora) is in form Shabanie can have the upper hand but FC Platinum are going to win. The combination of Raphael (Muduviwa) Charles (Sibanda) Michelle (Katsvairo) is very dangerous and Shabanie will lose by a 2-1 margin,’” he said.
Washington Marufu, however, feels Shabanie have the edge.
“We have already gone past FC Platinum and we are looking forward to our next match against Chicken Inn in the Mbada Diamonds Cup.
“My plea is that we want Fair Play to prevail,” he said.
