Big surprise awaits Wendall

International Airport.

Already, some businessmen led by property mogul Philip Chiyangwa are seeking to reward Wendall in a big way for bringing glory to Zimbabwe.
In an interview with The Herald, Chiyangwa could not hide his joy that Zimbabwe had won one of the prizes during this year’s season of the reality series.
“Well, to be honest, I don’t have an exact position on the reward but all I can say is we are happy that we made it this time.

“I spoke to Minister (Saviour) Kasukuwere on the night of the grand finale and we are still to decide what sort of position we will take regarding Wendall’s success.

“However, we are very clear that we do not only reward losers but winners as well. So as I speak to you I am waiting for the Minister (Kasukuwere) to finish his Cabinet business and only then will I have a position on how we, together with other businesspeople are going to honour him (Wendall),” Chiyangwa said.
He said they decided to reward Munyaradzi Chidzonga, who lost in the Big Brother All Stars season, as a message to encourage “fair play”.

“Last year we rewarded Munya because we wanted to tell the organisers to do the right thing and encourage fair play.
“I am aware that Wendall stays in a flat with his mother and we are looking along those lines so that we reward him,” he said with a chuckle.
In a statement, Liz Dziva, publicity and public relations manager of MultiChoice Zimbabwe, said they were happy that Wendall got the grand prize.

“MultiChoice Zimbabwe is delighted that a Zimbabwean housemate has won one of the Big Brother Africa cash prizes of US$200 000. Wendall Parson was a popular choice across Africa and he represented the country well throughout the 91 days of the reality TV series.

“We were also pleased to have had two Zimbabweans on the show this year and we hope their presence – and especially Wendall’s win – will reinforce the reputation “Zimbabweans have of being above-average contestants in the many reality TV shows that have been screened on DStv over the past 10 years.

“We look forward to Wendall’s return and to him playing a meaningful role in society back in Zimbabwe now that his stint in the Big Brother Amplified house is over.
“We also thank Zimbabwean fans of BBA for their support and for their high level of interest in the show, an interest created both by the show itself and by the excellent coverage received for the show in the local media, for which we are also grateful.”
