THE exciting Ndau Festival of the Arts (NdaFA) is back after two years of none action due to the Covid-19 pandemic induced lockdown.

The annual festival will be held on September 24.

According to the chairperson and director of NdaFA, Phillip Kusasa, the festival’s theme shall seek to celebrate Ndau.

“We agreed that this year’s theme shall have something to do with the United Nations Decade of Indigenous Languages celebrations. We are meeting again next week to finalise on issues such as the guest of honour and other logistics. Kusasa said the annual festival, which has been growing from strength to strength, is set to attract scores of arts groups from across the country.

“Due to the Covid-19 induced lockdown, we failed to host the event during the past two years. Many artistes are now engaging us about the event and I am assuring them that preparations for the event are at an advanced stage.

“We are promising an exciting event this year, and we want to play our part in reviving the arts industry which was dormant for the past few months.

“We will take this opportunity as artistes to exchange notes on the developments in our industry,” said Kusasa.

NdaFa was established in 2013 and was held annually during the last week of September each year.

The festival promotes various aspects of the Zimbabwean cultures, especially the Ndau culture.

The festival has played a pivotal role in promoting cultural tourism and events in Chipinge.
