Bikita Rural District Council plans to widen its revenue generation through hiring out its new US$300 000 conference centre at Nyika Growth Point.

The conference centre at Pambudzi Lodge has the capacity to accommodate 310 guests. It was funded using the devolution war chest and also the council’s internal revenue.

Bikita RDC acting chief executive Engineer Arnold Mtuke is upbeat the facility will boost revenue generation for the local authority.

“Our conference facility at Pambudzi Lodge is one of the projects that we rolled out in response to President Mnangagwa’s call to action to local authorities to be nerve centres of stimulating socio-economic development with a bearing towards Vision 2030,” he said.

“We hope to generate revenue from the conference centre through bookings for weddings, trainings and workshops, among other activities.”

He said the decision to build the conference at Pambudzi Lodge, which is owned by the council, was also part of enhancing the lodge’s services.

Bikita RDC is one of the local authorities in Masvingo at the forefront of driving transformative development, with the local authority embarking on a number of infrastructure projects that dovetail with Vision 2030.

The district commercial capital, Nyika Growth Point, is also undergoing rapid growth and expansion, thanks to the ongoing economic boom being experienced due to the Second Republic’s pro-investment policies.
