Bikita Rural District Council (RDC) has rolled out water, sanitation and health projects worth over US$100 000 in partnership with development agencies.
The projects align with the Second Republic’s Vision 2030 to make Zimbabwe an upper-middle-income society.

Nearly 10 000 villagers across various wards in the district have benefited from the projects, partly funded by devolution funds, the council’s internal resources and development partners.
Bikita RDC acting chief executive, Mr Anold Mtuke, says the completion of Chibvure Clinic in Ward 29 highlights the local authority’s commitment to improving health delivery across the district.
“This new clinic was built using internal resources and devolution funding and has a catchment of over 5 000 people,” said Mr Mtuke.

The Bikita RDC chief executive said his local authority has also worked with partners to complete two piped water schemes in Masasire and Musaizi in Wards 19 and 25.
“The two water (piped) schemes are benefitting more than 1 200 households and we undertook them with the help of our partners.”
Mr Mtuke said the council has also built new toilets with running water at Nyika Growth Point, improving hygiene and health safety for travellers and those who do business at the centre.
He said Bikita RDC will continue to embark on projects in various sectors that have a bearing on the local authorities’ “call to action”. President Mnangagwa enunciated the “call to action” requiring all councils across Zimbabwe to improve service delivery.
Under the stewardship of Mr Mtuke, Bikita RDC has been earning plaudits for rolling out projects that positively impact residents in the largely rural district.
