BIKITA TARGET SHOCK WIN

Sports Reporter

BIKITA Minerals coach Wilson Mutekede says they are ready to silence title-chasing Scottland in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Gibbo this afternoon.

Scottland are seeking to win three matches in a row for the first time this season.

They have posted identical 2-1 comeback victories against Ngezi Platinum and Highlanders to keep up with the leading teams.

However, Mutekede believes they have what it takes to stop Tonderai Ndiraya and his ambitious Scotts.

The hosts go into the match on the back of the weekend’s two-goal loss to Greenfuel.

Mutekede blamed the defeat against Greenfuel at the weekend to injuries, which deprived them of six players.

Some of them are returning for today’s clash against Scottland.

“The guys have recovered from a loss.

“Realistically, we knew we were not going to be at our best as we had six starters who were out of that line-up.

“The guys, who played, gave a good account of themselves.

“Looking back at the match, minus emotions, and the four scoring chances that we missed, we realise how much we competed even in that weakened position.

“This week we face Scottland. One of the exciting teams.

“One of the teams that has illuminated the league in all facets of the game but we are happy we are meeting them with 11 players on the field.

“We are meeting them with a team that has improved in terms of some players returning from injury and some from suspension.

“We have an opportunity to square up against them and show the level of our preparedness,” said Mutekede.
