FORMER Mamelodi Sundowns and South Africa senior national team striker, Hareaipha a?Simbaa? Marumo has heaped praises on Zimbabwe international, Khama Billiat saying he deserved more than playing in the Belgian Pro League.
Billiat has been heavily linked with a move to Belgiumas top teams for the past few months with reports saying Club Brugge and Knowledge Musonaas KV Oostende were interested in signing the nimble footed playmaker.
But Marumo believes a move to Belgium would be an easy ride for the Warriors front-man as he was simply too good to be playing in the Belgian league.
a?He will definitely be a star in Belgium. In fact, I think he should be going to bigger leagues than Belgium. He should be going to Germany or Spain . . . ,a? Marumo said on KickOff magazineas website.
Marumo added that the move for Billiat would also be a huge loss to his current club as they would find it hard to replace him.
Mamelodi Sundowns will certainly be hoping to make the most out of the player if they are to sell him after putting a R37 million price tag for the current Absa Premiership Player of the Year and showed no desperation in trying to let the player go anytime sooner.
In a story published by B-Metro Sport in August, Sundownsa communications co-ordinator, Thulani Thuswa was quoted as saying: a?We are not desperate to sell Khama. He is still a Mamelodi Sundowns player.a?
The club went on to snub a R25 million from an unnamed club in Eastern Europe and also deemed Egyptian giants, Al Ahlyas offer to table R17,8 million for the services of the former Aces Academy and Caps United playerA insufficient.
It remains to be seen if Khama will get the much anticipated move to Europe.
News site goal.com reported that the player remained with the club so that he could get an opportunity to win the Confederations of African Federation (Caf) champions league which they eventually won after beating Zamalek. a Online
