Winkya��s Video out for Botswana fans

WHEN Winky D announced that the long awaited premiere of his hit song, Disappear would be on BTVa��s Flava Dome last Friday, a few eyebrows were raised.

After all, many Zimbabweans had been waiting patiently for the video of a song that had ruled the roost throughout the country during the last festival season, elbowing out competition from other stars in the country while also keeping the relentless hits from South Africans and Nigerians at bay.

Unknown to his legion of Zimbabwean fans however, is the fact that Winky has managed to cultivate a following in Botswana, with Disappear serving to entrench this legend in a country that looks favourably upon his hits.

a�?Botswana is not new territory for us. We once interacted extensively with fans in Botswana and Ethiopia during a drive that we did for PSI alongside the legendary Oliver Mtukudzi. So over the years his songs have received more and more play culminating in the smash hit that is Disappear which was just as well received in that country as anywhere in Zimbabwe,a�? said the stara��s manager Jonathan Banda.

Banda added that BTV had presented as the ideal nest for Winky Da��s camp to lay the golden egg that Disappear has turned it over the past year, as the stationa��s video quality was in line with what they had envisioned for the song.

a�?The video quality on BTV is top notch and with that being the case we thought it would serve us best to premiere it there because video quality above all else was our main concern when we made this one. Due to the fact that the song was a club banger in that country, we leveraged its influence to premiere it on Botswanaa��s most influential music programme. We are thinking regional now and despite the complaints and criticism from Zimbabweans, we got exactly what we wanted from the video,a�? he said.
