Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE) is planning to open a satellite campus in Mbire to strengthen its ties with that community.
UNESCO chair, Dr Lazarus Dokora revealed this as he was leading a team from the university during a recent visit to Mbire.
Dr Dokora said science education is crucial in driving socio-economic change.
“BUSE is not only an institution of higher learning but also a driver of community empowerment and national development,” he said.
Dr Dokora added that the university is committed to working with the Mbire community to create opportunities and improve lives.
The university’s team engaged community leaders and residents, including Mbire Rural District Council chief executive officer, Mr Cloudious Majaya.
Meanwhile, the Annual District Education Conference is scheduled to take place in Mt Darwin from August 19 to 21.
The conference will offer thirty-five short courses. These initiatives reflect BUSE’s strategic focus on expanding its presence in Zimbabwe.
