Remains of missing girl found in Karoi

Police have recovered the remains of a 16-year-old girl near a farm in Karoi and have launched investigations into the case.
The girl went missing on March 18 this year while on her way to school.

National police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.

“The ZRP is investigating circumstances surrounding a case of murder in which the remains of a female juvenile aged 16 were found in a bush near Gremlin Farm, Karoi, on July 4, 2024,” he said.

“The victim went missing on March 18, 2024, while on her way to school,” he said.

Meanwhile, the ZRP is also investigating a murder case that occurred on July 5, 2024, at around 1500 hours.

Police said the suspect, Watson Musika (40), allegedly fatally struck Shiellah Utete (32) with an axe on the neck, shoulder, and on the head in a bush near Maldon Compound, Chikari in Chegutu.

Utete was his ex-wife.

The suspect later took some poison and was found lying lifeless at his house.

In another incident, police are investigating circumstances surrounding a case of attempted murder that occurred at a house in Pingo, Kadoma, on July 3.

IBoyk Ngwenya (28) was found lying unconscious with a swollen head. She was bleeding from the mouth after she had been attacked by a yet-to-be-identified suspect.

Ngwenya was taken to Kadoma General Hospital for treatment. Anyone with information is encouraged to report at the nearest police station.
