THE Bindura University of Science Education is set to open a market where it will sell products made from masawu.
In his presentation on Friday at the Education Expo, BUSE Vice-Chancellor, Professor Eddie Mwenje, said the market is expected to be opened at the end of next month.
Nyadire College showcased some cakes made from tsubvu and some fabrics which were dyed by tsubvu.
“Mashonaland Central has become the latest domestic tourist attraction due to masawu products being made at Bindura University,” said Prof Mwenje.
“Masawu boosts the immune system and we have a variety of products like Yoghurt, cakes, beverages, among others.
“We are scientists and our products have all passed the tests and they are ready for the market.
“A number of villagers in Mashonaland Central are now earning a living from collecting and selling masawu.
“We have three students who are now working in Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the United States of America.
“Zimbabwe has everything that it needs in terms of skills to take the nation to higher levels.
“We are now fighting to bridge the gap between our industry and our academia so that the graduates fit into our local industries and we avoid the brain drain.”
