BINGA District in Matabeleland North Province, previously regarded as marginalised, is currently undergoing a period of massive development being rolled out under the Second Republic.

The transformative projects are improving the livelihoods of the locals and attracting high-value investments that are creating jobs, all underpinned by the philosophy of “leaving no one and no place behind.”

In a significant stride for the district, the Minister of Energy and Power Development, Cde July Moyo, is expected in Binga on Thursday for the official switch-on ceremony of electricity at three electrified institutions in Mabobolo under Chief Dobola.

The ceremony will be held at Mabobolo Primary School. Minister Moyo will be accompanied by the Matabelaland North Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister, Cde Richard Moyo.

This marks another notable advancement in key projects spanning infrastructure, energy, health and education

Meanwhile, there has been massive progress in the implementation of the Binga Development Initiative, a brainchild of President Mnangagwa.

This initiative focuses on a number of transformative projects for the district, resonating with the mantra of “leaving no one and no place behind.”

In the education sector, development includes the construction of additional buildings for staff and students at the Binga Industrial Training College, alongside the establishment of two additional Government boarding schools in the district.

Significant progress is also evident in the health sector with two new clinics built at Mabobolo and Manyanda.

Furthermore, the rehabilitation of the Binga District Mortuary and the donation of two ambulances by the President have enhanced local healthcare services.

Key projects such as the establishment of irrigation facilities close to Gwayi-Shangani and the Bulawayo Kraal Irrigation Project have both been completed, effectively boosting agriculture.

The rehabilitation of the 1,1 kilometre Binga Airstrip has been completed.

Additionally, the resuscitation of Muchesu Mine, which was commissioned by the President, has so far been successful in attracting international capital investment, thereby unlocking opportunities for communities in the district.
