Binga schools get 30 000 exercise books

on Friday this week.
Speaking during the presentation of the books, VP Mujuru commended Cablemail, urging other companies to plough back into their communities.
“I do not have words to thank you, but God knows what he will do for you for the gesture you have presented to the children in Binga.
“What you feel for the people of Binga is what I feel as well. These 30 000 exercise books will go a long way in assisting our children in Binga and I am calling upon other companies to chip in and contribute towards these children who are still developing.
“This is what we should do. We are our own non-governmental organisations,” she said.
VP Mujuru said she was concerned with the plight of children in Binga. She has also undertaken to visit the area at least twice a year.
She said she grew up in the same environment such as Binga where they used to learn without exercise books.
“It is disheartening to learn what other children are going through, especially 32 years after independence. We have 97 percent literacy rate in Zimbabwe and that remaining 3 percent is part of Binga.”
VP Mujuru said President Mugabe worked hard to improve Zimbabwe’s education sector.
Cablemail managing director Mr Shepherd Katuruza said it was incumbent upon him to help others after getting assistance to make it in life.
He said he was a beneficiary of Zimbabwe’s indigenisation programme, adding that he was committed to the development of others.
“We will be the largest producers of exercise books in the country if we finish installing the new machinery at our plant.
“We expect the new machine to run the first week of November and it will be producing 500 000 exercise books in eight hours,” he said. The books will benefit both primary and secondary schools in Binga.
Mr Katuruza last year sponsored President Mugabe Soccer Cup at Kutama Mission.
