MANICA Diamonds forward, Fortune Binzi became the first Castle Lager Premiership player to score a hat-trick in this campaign when his side thumped Black Rhinos 4-0 at Gibbo on Saturday
It was Binzi’s third start of this campaign and this hat-trick took his tally to five goals.
He has already surpassed his tally last season when he scored three times at Yadah. The 24-year-old had given coach, Jairos Tapera, an indication he could illuminate their campaign when he scored a brace last week against ZPC Kariba.
Binzi is wasting no time to get up and running with the club’s chief striker, Donald Ngoma, still nursing an injury.
Tapera’s men have now scored seven goals in 180 minutes.
And, it appears they are already reaping the rewards of investing their trust in promising goalkeeper, Tadious Baye, who kept his second clean sheet.
He made his PSL debut prior to this victory.
Binzi hailed Tapera for embracing him at the club.
“I want to thank my teammates who are providing me with these scoring chances. We share the pain and glory after every final whistle because we play as a team and I’m grateful to God for everything.
“I want to thank my coach, who is showing me this great love which I can only repay by scoring as many goals as possible because this opportunity means a lot to me,” said Binzi.
He added.“I can’t promise much but I will do the best I can to help my team to fight for everything that comes our way.
“I think it’s good that we are now picking points but it’s something that never concerned us at the start because we knew it was just a matter of time.
“We are now challenging ourselves to maintain this level of commitment as we have shown our coaches what we can do.”
This victory means the Gem Boys have now racked 10 points in seven fixtures.
