A ST Patrick’s Hospital employee was left licking his wounds after he was slapped with 525 hours of community service after he was convicted of forging a birth confirmation record serial number.
Boniface Ndlovu’s world came crashing down recently when his dubious deals were discovered after the woman she had forged a birth confirmation record for was arrested while trying to register her baby at Hwange Registrar’s offices.

The court heard that on 22 November last year at St Patricks Hospital, Ndlovu filed false details on a birth confirmation record before further forging the signature belonging to the administrators. After succeeding in meeting his end of the bargain, Ndlovu handed over the document to an unidentified woman who rushed to the Registrar’s offices to get a birth certificate.

However, her joy of obtaining the important document after having given birth at home was short-lived as alert officers discovered anomalies in the serial number. The woman implicated Ndlovu as the person who had given her the birth confirmation record serial number.

Provincial magistrate Ms Lindiwe Maphosa sentenced him to 18 months imprisonment before conditionally suspending three months. The remaining 15 months were also suspended on condition he performs 525 hours community service at St Ignatius primary school.
Mr Onias Nyathi appeared for the State.
