UNITED Methodist Church (UMC) Episcopal Leader for Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi and Botswana, Bishop Gift Kudakwashe Machinga, on Friday, paid a courtesy call on President Mnangagwa at State House, where he pledged the church’s continued support towards national development.
Bishop Machinga commended the Government for fostering peace and stability in the country, saying this had created a conducive environment for churches and communities to worship freely and contribute meaningfully to society.
“We are grateful for the prevailing peace in Zimbabwe, which allows the church to serve freely,” he said.
“The United Methodist Church remains dedicated to building strong communities, nurturing leaders and advancing holistic development for the well-being of all Zimbabweans.”
He highlighted the longstanding partnership between the UMC and the Government, citing the Church’s work in the education and health sectors.
“Our commitment is to continue contributing to the nation’s growth through our schools, colleges, university, hospitals and clinics,” said Bishop Machinga.
He stressed that the church would continue to stand with both the Government and the people of Zimbabwe in pursuing social, spiritual and economic progress.
“The United Methodist Church will always walk alongside the Government and the people of Zimbabwe in advancing development that touches every aspect of life,” Bishop Machinga said.
The meeting, which was described as cordial, underscored the importance of cooperation between the State and faith-based institutions in driving community upliftment.
