BISHOP Dhidho Manyika, of Muchinjikwa waKristu Apostolic church, was ordained at a colourful ceremony in Harare on Sunday.
Zimbabwe Amalgamated Council of Churches (ZACC) president, Archbishop Douglas Mandaza, criticised church members who fight their leaders and end up starting their own ministries.
“Today, we are ordaining Bishop Manyika, he underwent some teachings, he is tried and tested. Vakuru vakati natsakwawabva nekuti kwaunoenda husiku.
“He is here with his wife and children.
“Hatidi vanonorara mumakomo vodzika vakuzvigadza pamabasa.
“Among such leaders, there are those abusing women, abusing drugs and engaging in criminal activities. Work with your leaders, shun attacking leaders for the good of the nation and peace,” said Archbishop Mandaza.
He added:
“Let it be known that your spiritual gift is not a certificate to start a church ministry, you need to be equipped and released by elders so as to remain relevant and fruitful.
“Our national leader, President Mnangagwa, has given us the freedom of worship, it is evil to abuse that freedom by attacking leaders and engaging in criminal activities.
“Tine makereke atangwa nevana varikutiza kutsiurwa nevatungamiriri vozvisimbisa nezvipo zvavainazvo.
“You will never be fruitful unless you submit to authorities.”
ZACC secretary for empowerment, Juliet Ajara, 66, told H-Metro that a number of Apostolic churches under them were running successful projects.
“We are here to equip our members with skills and lead them into self help projects to alleviate poverty. We are living in a peaceful country where everyone is free to conduct business to feed themselves, family and the nation.
“We are here to educate our members to live a healthy life, free from bondage,” said Juliet.
