Bishop’s rape trial deferred

Fungai Lupande Court Reporter
The trial of Abundant Life Global Ministries’ Bishop Danmore Magorimbo, who is accused of raping a married congregant, failed to take off yesterday because the court was overwhelmed with work.

Harare magistrate Ms Fadzai Mthombeni postponed the trial to February 25.

Prosecutor Mr Michael Reza alleged that Magorimbo raped the woman after convincing her that his sperm would cleanse her of evil spirits.

It is alleged that Magorimbo told the woman that she had been afflicted by evil spirits from her husband every time the couple engaged in sexual intercourse.

Magorimbo’s co-accused, Leeshalow Kambiro, an intercessor at the church, is also facing charges of being an accessory to the of- fence.
