SUPPORT Unit outfit Black Boots beat their closest rivals Bulawayo Chiefs 4-0 in a Zifa Southern Region Division One soccer match at Unit Fairbridge on Saturday. Black Boots reduced Bulawayo Chiefs’ lead at the top of the log standings to two points. Thabani Moyo and Leroy Ndlovu, a former Cement striker, bagged two goals each to sink the championship favourites.

The result was former Warriors gaffer Rahman “Rush” Gumbo’s fifth defeat of the season since taking over from Thulani Sibanda.
Black Boots gaffer Kudzai Mutuda was in a jovial mood after they managed to beat the pacesetters.

“It was a good game and we played well, now we are aiming to continue collecting maximum points until the end of the season,” said Mutuda

He said their main target is to leap-frog Bulawayo Chiefs to the top of the log standings with five games remaining.
“We are ready for the challenge, we want to be on top come end of the season,” said Mutuda.

Bulawayo Chiefs reacted swiftly yesterday by re-assigning Gumbo to their academy and bringing back Thulani Sibanda to take charge of the championship march.

They are still to face a tough test in Zimbabwe Saints and the resurgent Bantu Rovers who were under the guidance of their former coach Thulani Sibanda until yesterday.

Bulawayo Chiefs chairman Lovemore Sibanda said he was still hopeful that they would get their campaign back on track.
Bantu Rovers beat ZPC Hwange 2-1 to stay third while Tsholotsho FC stunned Zimbabwe Saints by the same scoreline.
